Canada’s Maritime Resources (TSXV: MAE) has produced first gold at its Hammerdown project in northwestern Newfoundland. This is the first gold production from the area since 2004. The gold was poured from ore stockpiled at Hammerdown and processed at the nearby Pine Cove mill.

The company plans to start commercial production early next year and is targeting annual output of about 50,000 ounces. This milestone comes after New Found Gold announced a roughly C$292 million deal to acquire Maritime Resources.
